Endowment

Gifts to the San Antonio Academy endowment are a long-term investment in the financial health of the school. Endowment funds are permanent funds that provide the school with earned income.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, San Antonio Academy has endowment assets over $23 million, which generate more than $1 million in annual earnings that are invested in our boys.

The scholarship was a dream come true for my grandson. The education he received from San Antonio Academy was top of the line. The teachers and the entire Academy staff helped in shaping his future...I thank God that you saw a need for such a humanitarian act.– Grandmother of Academy Graduate and Scholarship Recipient

How the Endowment Works

SAA's endowment operates like an investment account, keeping the school strong for future generations. Each year, the school draws earnings from the endowment – 4.5% of quarter average. That income supplements the operating budget, allowing The Academy to offer better programs for our boys.

Supporting SAA's Tuition Assistance Program

San Antonio Academy serves as a significant community resource, graduating young men who will play an important role in San Antonio, South Texas, and beyond. The Academy has attracted a diverse student body that includes young men from a broad range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and the school stands committed to maintaining its diversity. To help preserve the school's diversity, tuition assistance is offered to a limited number of deserving students.

One of the greatest benefits to a school's financial aid program is an endowment designated for scholarships. While the scholarship fund has increased fifteen-fold since its inception in 1985, more funds are needed. Each year, our financial aid budget is depleted before it can meet the needs of qualified applicants. More and more families are applying and demonstrating need, but The Academy does not have the resources to help many worthy boys.

To discuss making an endowment gift, please contact Jennifer Colglazier, Chief Development Officer at jcolglazier@sa-academy.org or 210-733-7331 ext. 219.Donors give knowing their gifts support a student who would otherwise not be able to attend The Academy. Most importantly, donors know that they are investing in the future leaders of our community.
