The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin is the state botanical garden and arboretum of Texas. The center features more than 900 species of native Texas plants in both garden and natural settings and is home to a breadth of educational programs and events. The center is on 284 acres and is located 10 miles southwest of downtown Austin, just inside the edge of the distinctive Texas Hill Country. It straddles both the Edwards Plateau and Texas Blackland Prairies ecosystems.
Scholarship
Our 2nd graders will embark on a nature-inspired learning experience at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, exploring the native plants and ecosystems of Texas, encouraging a love for the environment, and fostering an early appreciation for botany.
Leadership
Through guided explorations and interactive activities, our 2nd graders will have opportunities to develop leadership skills by collaborating with their peers, making observations, and participating in group discussions about the importance of preserving natural habitats.
Integrity
Engaging with the beauty of native wildflowers, our 2nd graders will learn about the integrity of ecosystems and the importance of environmental conservation, instilling a sense of responsibility and care for the natural world.
Brotherhood
Exploring the scenic landscapes and plant life at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, our 2nd graders will form bonds of brotherhood as they share in a scavenger hunt and the wonders of nature, promoting a sense of unity and appreciation for the environment among classmates.
