Dear San Antonio Academy Community,

The San Antonio Academy Board of Trustees and I want to again thank you for your resilience, perseverance, patience, compassion and grace as we worked together this past year to create a joyous, safe, constructive and inclusive environment where students could continue to learn, flourish and grow. This is especially true for our faculty and staff, who pivoted time and again, showing creativity and flexibility in their approach, while maintaining a prevailing sense of consistency and steadiness, despite the numerous challenges we collectively faced. The San Antonio Academy has emerged stronger and more unified in fulfilling our mission and we have a bright future in front of us.

As this school year has come to an end, on behalf of the Board, I write today to inform you that I have accepted Clint DuBose's resignation as Head of School, effective immediately. The Board thanks Clint for his many contributions over the last four years.  Clint has given of himself generously and has been instrumental in continuing to build The Academy into one of the premier independent schools in the state, if not the nation.  He has worked tirelessly and has very much to be proud of as he reflects on his significant impact in leading the school through progress, achievement, and change. His leadership and vision have led to numerous program developments and, in partnership with the Board, Clint has helped to significantly strengthen our school's ability to pivot and adapt to remote learning should it ever be necessary in the future. Other accomplishments include the completion of the 2015 strategic plan and new campus master plan, the recent capital campaign for the fine arts and athletic center facilities as well as the 10-year school accreditation. We are grateful for Clint's dedication and commitment to The Academy.

Concurrent with this announcement, I want to share that the Board of Trustees has agreed to form a Head of School Search Committee and we will immediately launch a search for an interim Head of School while we also conduct a national search for a permanent Head of School. Accordingly, we have contracted with The Education Group (TEG), an independent school head search, executive coaching, and consulting firm to assist us in conducting our search. TEG knows SAA well from having worked with our Board and our Head in a consulting and coaching capacity from 2018 to 2019. We will work with TEG and a diverse group of Committee members representing a broad cross section of parents, alumni, faculty, and staff. We will announce the Search Committee at a later date. For the permanent position, the Board is committed to engaging our school community in the search process. We look forward to sharing the Committee's progress with you in the coming months. It is the Board's sincerest wish for this process to be open and smooth.

I welcome you to contact me directly at any time with your thoughts. I would be glad to hear from you. To facilitate this communication, please contact me via email at BoardChair@SA-Academy.org, and I will respond to each of you as quickly as possible.

I couldn't be more confident in the San Antonio Academy's future and all that it holds for our boys. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, thank you for your continued support of our school.

Sincerely,

Roger Hill

Chair, Board of Trustees
