Athletics Mission Statement
The San Antonio Academy Athletics Program is designed to teach fundamentals, knowledge, and skills in multiple athletic realms. We will encourage our athletes to follow The Academy’s pillars of scholarship, leadership, integrity, and brotherhood, on and off the field. Athletes are expected to develop dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, pride, and grit. Combined, this is intended to prepare our boys for higher athletic levels and competition.
Athletics Motto
Win the Day…The Academy Way
Our goal is to reinforce the knowledge and values that every athlete needs to be successful.
- Dedication (Scholarship): Give 100% positive effort and work ethic in every practice, game, and team, developing great scholarship. Athletes are expected to learn team philosophy and standards at a high level at all times.
- Teamwork (Leadership): Always prioritize team goals over personal interests; always support and encourage team members on and off the field.
- Sportsmanship (Integrity): Play fair, win with humility, and lose with grace. Treat all officials, opponents, teammates, and coaches with respect.
- Pride (Brotherhood): Acknowledge personal achievements while holding teammate and team achievements to a higher level.
- Grit (Mental & Physical Toughness): Develop courage and resolve, strength of character, and the ability to dig deep and push through obstacles to achieve desired goals.
It is expected that all coaches, athletes, and families follow The Texas Way Initiative.
*All boys are highly encouraged to participate in at least one school sport. Not only does this help them develop as a strong young man, but it also helps them learn great fundamentals and responsibilities for their future.
