Wes Yancy - Class of 2008 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

On August 28, 2023, we were joined by SAA alumnus Wes Yancy, class of '08, as our Alumni Monday Speaker. Wes spoke to our boys about all his fond memories of The Academy and why SAA will always be a special place for him.

Wes Yancy with Mr. Bradley

Wes was a "lifer" here at SAA, attending from Pre-K all through 8th grade. After graduating from The Academy, he went on to attend and graduate from Alamo Heights High School and then to Texas A&M University, where he obtained a degree in petroleum engineering. During his chapel talk, Wes credited his involvement in MATHCOUNTS as playing a big role in realizing his love for math and essentially setting him up on the path of engineering.

As he spoke about the many memories of his time at SAA, he highlighted the healthy development of competition and pushing yourself to the best of your ability in every aspect, from academics to the military program and athletics. He concluded by reminding the boys to be competitive in embracing the motto to the best of their ability, and they will succeed in all they do.

Thank you, Wes, for sharing such wonderful memories and stories with us.
