It was a pleasure to be joined by SAA alumnus Steven Bull, class of 1970, as the Alumni Monday speaker during Chapel on April 17, 2023. Mr. Bull spoke to our boys about his fond memories of The Academy, the important lessons he learned here, and how Tex Hill personally played a major role in his attending SAA and other institutions afterward. 

After graduating from SAA, Mr. Bull attended and graduated from TMI and went on to attend college and graduate from Austin College, all under the recommendation of Tex Hill, a close friend of his father's. He is now a successful interior designer and served as the former president of the SAA Alumni Council from 1999-2000. 

Mr. Bull spoke about the many opportunities he was able to take throughout his life and credited his early years at The Academy for putting him on the trajectory. One of these is his love for theater which he took an interest in during his time at SAA, and led him to be a part of over 100 productions in his lifetime and be able to perform all over the world. 

He also honored Col. Bondurant Sr. and Col. Bondurant Jr. as the two people that greatly influenced him during his time as a cadet, recalling memories and lessons he learned from both that he still values to this day, saying, "They showed me that you can be a leader and be strong as a mountain, and you can be a leader and also be kind." Because of this influence, Mr. Bull says that in his career, he chooses to be a leader that is kind.
