It was a pleasure to have SAA alumnus John Kohl McAdams, class of 2018, join us as the Alumni Monday speaker during Chapel on May 1, 2023. John Kohl spoke to our boys about the importance of brotherhood and encouraged them to take advantage of the unique and special relationships created at The Academy. 

John Kohl graduated from The Academy in 2018 and went on to attend and graduate from McCallie School in Tennessee. After graduating high school, he decided to return to San Antonio, where he currently attends and plays football at Trinity University.

During his chapel talk, he spoke about his competitive spirit and toxic ambition, which he believes was "an unfulfilling, unsatisfying way to live," as he was always looking for the next accomplishment to fulfill and didn't get to appreciate the time he had with his peers fully. Because of this, he learned to let go of his toxic ambition and decided to live his daily life respecting and loving others and cultivating meaningful relationships instead, and he found that to be fulfilling on its own. 

He ended by encouraging his fellow brothers to take full advantage of the brotherhood and relationships that are established during their time at SAA because it's what makes the school so special.
