Eric Duxstad– Class of 1979 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Eric Duxstad '79

On Monday, March 30, 2026, San Antonio Academy welcomed alumnus Eric Duxstad ’79 back to campus as an Alumni Monday speaker.

After graduating from SAA, Duxstad attended Alamo Heights High School before continuing to the University of Texas. He is now a commercial real estate broker in San Antonio and the founder of the South Texas Coastal Initiative, an organization focused on restoring oyster reefs along the Texas coast.

During his visit, Duxstad reflected on his time at The Academy, highlighting the impact of its small classes and strong sense of community. He also spoke about his continued connection to the school through years of service on the Alumni Council.

Duxstad shared insights into his coastal restoration work through South Texas Coastal Initiative, explaining the importance of oyster reefs in supporting marine life and improving water quality. Through this initiative, oyster shells from local restaurants are collected and returned to coastal waters to help rebuild these critical ecosystems.

He encouraged students to find what they are passionate about, give back to their communities, and stay committed to their goals, emphasizing that perseverance and consistency are key to making a meaningful impact.

Mr. Duxstad shared a volunteer opportunity that is open to students and community members. Sink Your Shucks reef building event will be held on May 9, 2026 at Goose Island State Park. The opportunity is through Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Harte Research Institute. To register or get more details, please click here
