Daniel Guerra Class of 2014 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Daniel Guerra, class of 2014, joined us as our Alumni Monday speaker on September 9, 2024. He delivered an inspiring speech reflecting on his journey at The Academy and its lasting impact on his life.

Daniel Guerra '14

Daniel attended The Academy for all ten years, from Pre-K to 8th grade. After graduating from SAA in 2014, he attended Central Catholic High School and then went on to study and graduate from Yale University. He is currently attending medical school at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

During his speech, Daniel expressed how his ten years at SAA shaped him into the person he is today. As an "Academy lifer," he shared many personal stories through a collection of photos illustrating his journey through his years as an Academy boy. He highlighted the importance of mentorship, tradition, and brotherhood, recounting memorable experiences, from family-style lunches and chapel talks to his involvement in extracurriculars like drill, choir, athletics, and mathletes. He credited The Academy for instilling values of discipline, integrity, and brotherhood, which prepared him for his later successes, including graduating from Yale and pursuing medical school.

In closing, Daniel reflected on the significant role of family, expressing heartfelt appreciation for his mother, who raised him and his two brothers after his father's passing in 2002. He then encouraged the boys to cherish their time at SAA, appreciate their families' sacrifices for their education, and embrace the values The Academy instilled as they continue their own journeys.
