Chris Villanueva - Class of 2006 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

On September 23, 2024, SAA alumnus Chris Villanueva, Class of 2006, returned to San Antonio Academy to deliver a heartfelt and motivating Alumni Monday speech.

Chris Villaneuva

Chris shared his inspirational story with the boys, recounting the most challenging moments of his life. He began by reflecting on his struggles as a 4th grade Academy boy, but with the support of his parents, he developed discipline and resilience. He emphasized how the discipline he learned during that tough year laid the foundation for his future success. These traits carried him through many other hardships in life, from the loss of loved ones to the struggles of managing a growing business.

Chris shared how his time at The Academy influenced his entrepreneurial journey. He co-founded a successful resume service with his brother, Matthew Villanueva '09. While their business initially thrived, Chris eventually faced setbacks when the market changed and he needed to lay off some of his employees. Around the same time, he dealt with several personal hardships. Throughout these trials, he emphasized the importance of perseverance, faith, and the strength gained through adversity. Despite setbacks, he maintained an unwavering belief that "life doesn't always get easier, but you always get better."

Chris concluded by encouraging the boys to embrace life's difficulties gracefully and remember the San Antonio Academy motto "Be honest. Be kind. Be the best you can be." inspiring them to face life's challenges with resilience.
