Charlie Fuhrmann III, Class of 2006, joined us as the Alumni Monday speaker on February 26, 2024. He shared his journey from being an SAA cadet to working for a leading company in tech and software development and how the values and lessons he learned at The Academy have guided him along the way. 

Charlie reminisced about his days at The Academy, highlighting the enduring friendships forged during his time here and emphasizing the impact of dedicated teachers like Ms. Cathy Cummings, Coach Mike Heineman, and Coach Matt Veldt, who were an inspiration to him. He recounted fond memories of excelling in sports and learning invaluable lessons in leadership and community.

After leaving SAA, he attended and graduated from Alamo Heights Junior and High Schools and went on to study at the University of Edinburgh. From starting at The Academy as a young boy to studying in college in Scotland, he credited these institutions for shaping his academic and personal growth.

Charlie is now a Sales Leader at a company named Armada and described this new journey as a "real-world adventure" with smart technology aiding explorers in remote locations. He explained how Armada's technology, utilizing satellite communication, empowers individuals in various fields, from scientific exploration to environmental protection.

As he concluded his presentation, Charlie emphasized to the boys the importance of dreaming big, thinking creatively, and making a positive impact on the world, encouraging them to embrace their potential and pursue their aspirations. He expressed extreme gratitude to SAA for providing the foundation for his success and urged students to follow their dreams with confidence and determination.
