Charlie Cross, Class of 2006, joined us as the Alumni Monday speaker on February 12, 2024, with a message that encourages the boys to "live a great story."

"Your experience at The Academy is a really great introduction into your life story and a way to discover who you are," Charlie expressed to the boys. To further convey his message, he continued on to tell his own life story and how his experiences at SAA "planted seeds" that resulted in who he is as a person now. 

 After spending four years in Switzerland studying at The Goetheanum, Charlie moved back to his hometown in San Antonio but still works in helping run the weekly journal that is published out of The Goetheanum. He also works as a professional astrologer, reading star charts for clients and helping interpret their life stories and what the stars might say about their path.

Charlie used examples of objects he carried around in his backpack, such as books, a frisbee, a CD, and comic strips to help convey the kind of person he was learning he was when he was in Elementary and Middle school that ultimately translated into the person he is now. He encouraged the boys that at this point in their lives, it is important to learn who they are as the main characters in their own stories, which will help them become the writers of their biographies as they get older. 

The last example he used was the bond he built with his two best friends over their common interest in music. He expressed how this mutual connection they found while attending SAA has blossomed into a lifelong friendship among them.

As he concluded, Charlie reiterated the importance of seeds being planted through experiences, passions, interests, and uniqueness are all important in formulating who they are as individuals and are important in creating and living their own great stories.
