Tom Turbiville, Class of 1962 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

We were joined by SAA Alumnus, Tom Turbiville, class of '62, for Alumni Monday on September 26, 2022. He spoke to the boys about some of his core memories while attending The Academy and credited all the teachers, staff, friends, and others that impacted him, not only during his time at SAA, but even after.

After graduating from SAA, Tom went on to graduate high school from TMI, and then Texas Tech University. After college, he became a sports writer, went on to work in media relations for the Southwest Conference in Dallas, then became the Sports Information Director for Texas A&M, and finally went into radio broadcasting for 24 years before he retired.

Tom had plenty of distinct memories to share with the boys about his time at SAA, especially of his time in the band where he would eventually become drum major his 8th grade year. However, the one thing he felt most important to share was the impact and importance that the faculty and staff had on him.

"I credit San Antonio Academy and the teachers that I had here for every good thing that's ever happened to me," he said. "Not only does The Academy help young boys to make good decisions, but it also teaches why making those good decisions matter and are important."

Thank you, Tom, for sharing with us and encouraging our boys.
