Hudson Hamner (SAA Class of 1998)

October 21, 1983December 13, 2022

Hudson Boyd Hamner, 39, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Over the course of 19 years, Hudson had three cancers that he fought courageously and tenaciously. He was born on October 21, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Constance “Connie” Ellison Hamner-Campbell and Dr. Lawrence R. Hamner III.

Hudson proudly graduated from San Antonio Academy where he was a member of the Battalion Staff. He attended Alamo Heights High School and was on the varsity basketball team. He then went on to Texas Christian University where he was a Phi Delta Theta and an avid TCU football fan. He finished his bachelor’s degree from University of Texas San Antonio and then earned a Certificate of Mineral Management from the University of Houston. Hudson worked in medical sales and most recently was part of the Vantage Bank marketing team for five years.

Hudson was a sports and outdoors enthusiast. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed golf, basketball, baseball, pickleball, and hunting. He also loved to snow and water ski with family. He was an avid San Antonio Spurs fan – with a great admiration for David Robinson.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the German Club, the San Antonio Country Club and had served on one of the Toastmasters Executive Boards. Hudson was chosen to be a virtual Buddy as part of the HEB/University Health System Body Adventure Health and Wellness exhibit at the Witte Museum.

Hudson was a kind, gentle soul, and loyal friend. He loved to laugh and very much adored comradery, story telling and watching comedies with friends and family. He enjoyed relationships with people from all generations and walks of life. Hudson was someone everyone wanted to spend time with because of his upbeat and playful personality. The way Hudson lived his life was an inspiration to all who were blessed to experience it.

Hudson embodied 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.

He is predeceased by his brother, Travis E. Hamner; grandmother, Frances W. Ellison and grandfather, Luther F. Ellison; grandmother, Callie H. Hamner and grandfather, Lawrence R. Hamner Jr; stepfather Jeffrey Campbell; and stepbrother, Travis Campbell.
