Beverly "Bev" Nix Coiner, Jr. (SAA Class of 1999)

December 14, 1984March 25, 2023

On March 25 a great adventure that was the life of Beverly Nix Coiner, Jr came to an abrupt end. Beverly was born December 14, 1984 in San Antonio, Texas to Kathleen Moon Coiner and Beverly Nix Coiner, Sr.

Though a native of San Antonio, he was well traveled and knowledgeable in exotic and metropolitan destinations alike. Beverly attended the San Antonio Academy through the 8th grade. While there, Bev began to grow an interest in sports. Not only would he become a loyal fan of the San Antonio Spurs, he also was a member of the lacrosse, wrestling and tennis teams. His only accolades were in fantasy football though. Upon graduation from the Academy, he attended high school at St. Mary's Hall and graduated from Alamo Heights High School. While in school, Bev was a member of both the St. Mary's Hall and St. Anthony Lacrosse Teams. Throughout his life, he would be under the belief that he had an eye for fashion. Whether true or not, he was successful in adorning the Senior Superlative of future Giorgio Armani. Bev graduated from Tulane University with a degree in History and in the face of all the distractions the Big Easy had to offer, Bev graduated with flying colors.

Beverly had a lifelong passion for animals being a proud father of everything from dogs, cats, amphibians to rodents, reptiles, and farm animals. It's easy to assume that he had hundreds of pets throughout his years.

Descriptions like bon vivant, gourmand, or gentleman of leisure, fall well short of describing Bev's commitment to exploration and discovery of the finer things in life. His love of life was only exceeded by the love he enjoyed from those lucky enough to find themselves onboard his flight. The conclusion, must like the finale of Lost, will leave so many wishing for more but alas that's not how the story was to be written. His absence will be felt not just in our world, but also throughout the animal kingdom – especially the corner governed by bulldogs.

Bev is survived by his mother, Kathleen Moon Coiner; numerous cousins; his dogs Bubbles, Walter, Gus and all of the numerous people who have loved him so much over the years. He is preceded in death by his father, Beverly Nix Coiner; his grandparents: Major Gen. Richard Tide Coiner and Helen Nix Coiner, and Col. Leo C Moon and Dorothea Obrien Moon; and his uncles Richard Tide Coiner, William Lanier Coiner, and Randall Kent Moon.
