Where Boyhood is Celebrated

Since 1886, The Academy has done more than prepare boys for high school. We educate them to succeed in life – scholastically, emotionally, and physically. All aspects of the SAA experience are focused on the educational and developmental needs of boys. In other words, we know boys.

Academy Boys graduate with a strong academic foundation, a positive self-image, strong leadership skills, and much more. Boys learn that integrity, pride in achievement, and kindness are as important as their scholastic work, and what it truly means to be a gentleman.

At The Academy, boys are taught to Be honest. Be kind. Be the best you can be.®

Learn Why Families Choose The Academy

Hear from our Parent Ambassadors as they tell us about their Academy experience.

The Banks Family

We heard so many wonderful things about SAA boys: their integrity, their manners, their academic capabilities, and we knew right away that it was a school we needed to tour.

The Nicewander Family

Friends who teach high school shared that the Academy Boys always stood apart in class for their strong leadership skills and manners, which only solidified our school decision.

The Rohlfs Family

Beyond the education (which is excellent), each of my sons are known, uplifted and cherished for their individual talents and personalities.

I have known many exceptional boys and men who have benefitted from their years at SAA, as have their families. The school truly fulfills its promise of turning boys into the leaders of tomorrow. – Mary McNelis, Class of '24 Parent

Bear Holiday Card

SAA’s annual holiday card contest named 5th grader Paul Duncan as this year’s standout artist! Students in Ms. Bates' art elective were invited to submit artwork for the card that captured the spirit of the season and the pride of The Academy. Submissions were voted on by faculty and staff, and Paul’s festive bear decked out in an SAA uniform shirt and Santa hat was chosen as the winning design, spreading “beary” merry cheer to our community!

1899 SAA football

“SAA has not served high school students for nearly a century, but it was one of the most prominent pipeline schools in the first three decades of the UT football program’s existence. In fact, even today, 105 years after the last SAA product to win a varsity letter with the Longhorn football program, no other school in San Antonio can claim more UT football lettermen among its former students.”

Thank you to Jonathan Wells, an amateur historian of UT football, for highlighting this unique part of SAA’s legacy in his recent Substack article, “Forgotten Texas Longhorn pipeline school: San Antonio Academy.”
