The McCombs Family Collection Dedication

In 2009, The Academy welcomed special guests Red and Charlene McCombs for the official dedication of The McCombs Family Museum Collection. To help celebrate the occasion, 3rd graders performed "Night at the Living Museum," where each boy chose his favorite American historical character, donned period costumes and came to life for the audience.

Colonel William R. Orbelo* followed the presentation with a discussion about his experience as the long-time collector for the McCombs. Among the highlights of the evening was the breathtaking unveiling of an original Mexican Flag that flew over Texas during its battle for Independence.

*Col. William R. Orbelo passed away in 2012.
