San Antonio Academy’s campus buzzed with excitement on the evening of Saturday, October 18, as families, alumni, staff, and friends gathered for the school’s 40th annual Fall Family Fair, celebrating both the Fair’s milestone year and The Academy’s 140th school year.

Themed “Welcome to the Danger Zone,” a nod to the iconic Top Gun film, this year’s event soared with friendship and fun that reflected the close-knit spirit of the SAA community.

Across Frost Field, young “pilots” raced through bounce houses while the aroma of grilled burgers, street tacos, and pizza filled the air. Families gathered at tables under the iconic oak tree, sharing laughter and carnival treats like cotton candy, funnel cake, and fried Oreos as the evening cruised along at full throttle.

Inside McCombs Gymnasium, the carnival midway was filled with friendly competition. Guests tested their aim at the balloon pop, ring toss, plate smash, and even axe-throwing. The cakewalk remained a favorite, with more than 70 cakes claimed by lucky winners.

Nearby, Drop-in-the-Bucket drew crowds eyeing prizes that ranged from a Roblox gift card and LEGO set to special SAA experiences like popsicles on the playground or out-of-uniform day. For the bravest attendees, the 8th-grade haunted house delivered lots of thrills and laughter.

Faculty mingled with families, alumni reconnected with Academy brothers, and new parents experienced the spirit of community that continues to soar after 140 years.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Fall Family Fair committee, event co-chairs Kelly Leddy and Cassandra Ortiz, and the many faculty, parent, and community volunteers, who made the night a smooth flight. Special thanks goes out to Escalera Capital, Ricos Products, HT & Co., New Day, and Pizza Classics, for underwriting the food court, and to the SAA grill dads and kitchen staff who helped keep the food running smoothly throughout the evening.
