SAA 3rd Grade Presents: A Day at The Museum 2025

Posted: April 11, 2025

One of San Antonio Academy’s beloved public speaking traditions, “A Day at the Museum,” returned on Friday, April 11, with our 3rd grade students transforming into living snapshots of American history.

The event featured a line-up of young historians, each dressed in character and bringing to life notable individuals from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The performance marked the culmination of weeks of preparation, during which each student engaged in research, polished their public speaking skills, and memorized key facts about their historical figure. Whether channeling the bravery of Davy Crockett, the athleticism of Jim Thorpe, or the friendly spirit of Mr. Rogers, the boys impressed the audience with their confidence and delivery.

A huge thank you to 3rd grade teachers Terry Collier and Brandy Avilla-Morn, whose guidance made the experience possible. Also, a huge shout-out to 3rd grade families who played a vital role in helping prepare the boys for their big debut.

SAA Boys Lend Helping Hands for Catholic Charities’ Project Turkey Box

In the spirit of service and gratitude, San Antonio Academy joined forces with Catholic Charities of San Antonio to support Project Turkey Box, a community initiative providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Over the course of three days, boys from every grade level worked to transform banana boxes into cheerful vessels for holiday dinners. Each box was wrapped, decorated, and included a handwritten Thanksgiving note. The small gesture will soon bring joy and nourishment to homes across San Antonio this holiday season. With Catholic Charities’ goal of preparing 500 boxes, Academy students made a significant contribution toward meeting that milestone. The project, held just a short walk from campus, offered boys a firsthand look at how small acts of service can make a big impact.
