Rochelle Brothers - Alumni Monday Interview Hosted by Coach Mike Heineman
On November 17, 2025, San Antonio Academy brought a special surprise twist to Alumni Monday chapel as brothers David ’07 and Thomas Rochelle ’08 returned to campus for an interview-style presentation hosted by former SAA Director of Athletics Mike Heineman.
Coach Heineman led a lighthearted and reflective conversation, inviting the Rochelle brothers to share memories from their time at The Academy, updates on their lives today, and lessons they continue to carry forward. David, now an attorney and father of two, recalled the lifelong friendships formed at SAA, some dating back to Pre-Kindergarten, and the genuine care shown by teachers.
“There are a lot of people in your life who come and go, and very few of them actually care about you," said David. "Very few of them really want to see you succeed, but the teachers here truly do.”
Thomas, who works in marketing at USAA, emphasized the lasting impact of SAA’s academic rigor and discipline, crediting his writing, punctuality, and respect for others as habits formed during his ten years at The Academy. His advice to current students: “Don’t stress about having everything figured out. Stay open to opportunities.”
The brothers fondly reminisced about favorite teachers, including Mr. Moore, Mrs. Baumgartner, and Coach Heineman himself, and recalled special moments like winning the 7th-grade basketball championship. Coach Heineman wrapped up the interview by expressing gratitude to the Rochelle brothers' parents, who were in attendance, for their continued support and for the strong foundation of values.
The morning served as a meaningful reminder of SAA’s enduring influence, with lessons in brotherhood, integrity, and perseverance continuing to shape students long after they’ve left The Academy.

San Antonio Academy was delighted to host the grandparents of 3rd–5th grade students for the Elementary Grandparents’ Chapel & Coffee on Friday, January 16. More than 50 proud grandparents filled the front rows of Ellison Hall, sharing in one of The Academy’s most treasured daily traditions, morning chapel.

The 2026 San Antonio Academy Geography Bee brought excitement and brainpower to Ellison Hall in a Jeopardy-style competition that celebrated the global knowledge of The Academy’s 4th–8th graders.

On Monday, January 12, 2026, San Antonio Academy welcomed back alumnus Pierce Kellogg, class of 2014, for the latest installment of Alumni Monday, introduced by seventh graders Liam Cox and interviewed by students Cooper Urban and George Mauzé. Following his time at SAA, Pierce graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 2018 and later from UTSA. He now manages over a million dollars in inventory for Joseph's Men's Store.
