Reigning SAA Geography Bee Champ Ford Allen Wins for Fourth Consecutive Year
Posted: January 31, 2024
Ten Elementary and Middle School Academy boys went head-to-head in an intense quiz competition of all things World Geography in hopes of receiving the champion title of the annual San Antonio Academy Geography Bee. Held Wednesday, January 31, the boys competed in multiple rounds of challenging questions, testing their knowledge of continents, countries, capitals, and bodies of water until two contestants remained: 8th grader Asher Warden and 7th grader Ford Allen.
In the final round, Ford demonstrated his remarkable prowess by answering all three questions correctly, securing a well-deserved victory. Remarkably, Ford's impeccable performance extended throughout the entire competition, as he flawlessly answered every question posed to him (unlike the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee contestants are not eliminated until they give a second incorrect answer).
The Geography Bee was facilitated by Barry Bradley, SAA history teacher of 47 years and honorary Academy alumnus, with support from 5th & 7th grade history teacher Coach Matt Veldt. Special thanks to the judges, SAA 4th grade history and math teacher Debbie Oblitas, and former SAA history teachers Kathryn Dehlinger and Laura Douglass.
