Elias Hansen, Class of 2016 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Elias Hansen, Class of 2016 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

We had the pleasure of having SAA alumnus Elias Hansen, class of 2016, join us as the Alumni Monday speaker during chapel on May 22, 2023. Elias came prepared to talk to our boys about "not boxing yourself in," encouraging them to seek out and try different hobbies and interests in all aspects of life and how The Academy sets them up to do exactly that.

Elias Hansen Alumni Monday Speaker

Elias attended SAA from 4th to 8th grade and went on to attend and graduate from The International School of the Americas. He is now a student at Rice University, entering his senior year.

During his chapel talk, Elias explained that there are two things The Academy teaches that he thinks are very important to be able to "explore." The first is professional communication, and the second is always to wonder and "never to lose the excitement of exploring." Elias spoke about all the ways SAA presents opportunities to do and practice both of these things, whether it be academically, athletically, creatively, or even in just the mundane everyday things.

He ended by encouraging the boys always to follow their inner curiosity because there are many possibilities and opportunities that can arise from just trying something out.

Thank you, Elias, for sharing those very encouraging words with us and reminding our boys never to lose their wonder.

Gather Under the Oak 2024

SAA alumni from classes spanning eight decades gathered for a reception on Thursday, May 23, to relive, reconnect, and remember with fellow alumni. During the annual Gather Under the Oak Tree event, the San Antonio Academy Alumni Association presented this year's Young Alumnus Award to Jamey Steen '03. The Young Alumnus Award was established in 2022 and gives SAA alumni the opportunity to nominate a fellow alumnus aged 35 and younger who is a rising star and who excels in representing the four pillars of San Antonio Academy graduates – scholarship, leadership, integrity, and brotherhood. To read more about Mr. Steen's many accomplishments, read his full bio.

Class of 2024 Gift

The recently graduated class of 2024 gifted The Academy with a beautifully crafted flag stand made by SAA alumnus and former coach Bobby Zander '72. This is a meaningful and sentimental piece, as it was made using salvaged wood from The Academy's old gym, which was removed in 2020. It is also engraved with a dedication to our beloved and recently retired Mr. Barry Bradley. The stand is located in the lobby of the Bondurant Field House and Fine Arts Building.

Alumni Monday - Nolan Ellis

Nolan Ellis, Class of 2011, joined us as the Alumni Monday speaker during chapel on May 20, 2024. During his presentation, Nolan took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he shared fond memories from his Academy days along with his life journey and success since graduating.

Class of 2020 Reunion
