Elias Hansen, Class of 2016 (Alumni Monday Speaker)
We had the pleasure of having SAA alumnus Elias Hansen, class of 2016, join us as the Alumni Monday speaker during chapel on May 22, 2023. Elias came prepared to talk to our boys about "not boxing yourself in," encouraging them to seek out and try different hobbies and interests in all aspects of life and how The Academy sets them up to do exactly that.
Elias attended SAA from 4th to 8th grade and went on to attend and graduate from The International School of the Americas. He is now a student at Rice University, entering his senior year.
During his chapel talk, Elias explained that there are two things The Academy teaches that he thinks are very important to be able to "explore." The first is professional communication, and the second is always to wonder and "never to lose the excitement of exploring." Elias spoke about all the ways SAA presents opportunities to do and practice both of these things, whether it be academically, athletically, creatively, or even in just the mundane everyday things.
He ended by encouraging the boys always to follow their inner curiosity because there are many possibilities and opportunities that can arise from just trying something out.
Thank you, Elias, for sharing those very encouraging words with us and reminding our boys never to lose their wonder.

While it is bittersweet to see our Class of 2023 prepare to graduate, it is our hope that they remain in touch with us at The Academy as they continue their education. Our 8th grade Cadets have had a very busy spring, including the 8th grade class trip, the Shakespeare play, Military Ball, Alumni/8th Grade Luncheon and of course, Commencement with a luncheon to follow at the San Antonio Country Club. What an accomplishment these boys have achieved!
San Antonio Academy's 8th Grade Debate made its return to Ellison Hall on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, as two teams of five went head-to-head in formal discourse in hopes of being named champion.
