Eddie Arredondo - Class of 1983 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Eddie Arredondo - Class of 1983 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

San Antonio Academy welcomed back alumnus Eddie Arredondo, class of 1983, for a heartfelt Alumni Monday visit on November 10, 2025, that blended nostalgia, humor, and wisdom.

Alumnus Eddie Arredondo and Barry Bradley

Returning to campus for the first time in decades, Eddie, who now serves as the County Attorney for Burnet County, shared memories from his Academy days and reflected on how the lessons he learned at SAA continue to guide him today.

Holding up his original diploma, he reminisced about the old campus landmarks, including “Snoopy’s,” the small student-run candy shop that once stood where the new building is now. He fondly recalled the arrival of the school’s iconic cannons, the excitement of playing undefeated basketball under Prof. Kennedy, and the thrill of competing on the Hemisphere Arena court, home of the Spurs at the time.

Eddie also paid tribute to beloved, longtime faculty members, including Barry Bradley, who was in attendance, and spoke of the influence of mentors such as Colonel Bondurant, Prof. Kennedy, and Coach Martinez. He shared how their dedication and leadership shaped his character, a legacy he encouraged current students to appreciate in their own teachers today.

Throughout his talk, he reminded the boys to value their friendships, cherish their education, and live by The Academy’s core principles. Closing with a memorable metaphor, he said, “Life is like a pencil—you need to stay sharp, fix your mistakes, and go out there and create your masterpieces.”

Eddie's visit offered a touching reminder of The Academy’s 140-year tradition of developing young men of integrity, compassion, and leadership.
