After SAA, Holshouser attended Alamo Heights High School before continuing to Washington and Lee University, where he earned a degree in geology. During his visit, he reflected on how the Academy motto, “Be Honest, Be Kind, Be the Best You Can Be”, has guided him throughout his life and career. Holshouser shared that he first became interested in competitive skeet shooting while in eighth grade and explained how the sport helped him develop focus, discipline, and confidence. He encouraged students to learn from mistakes quickly and continue moving forward.

Following college, Holshouser worked in oil and gas exploration and construction before returning to San Antonio in late 2024 to focus more on teaching shooting sports. Throughout the interview, he emphasized the importance of honesty, kindness, hard work, and following your passions.

Before concluding, Holshouser reminded students that the values and relationships formed at The Academy are lasting and encouraged the eighth graders to continue treating others with respect as they move on to high school.
