Charlie Biedenharn, Class of 1996 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Charlie Biedenharn, Class of 1996 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

It was a pleasure to have SAA alumnus Charlie Biedenharn, Class of 1996, join us as the Alumni Monday speaker on February 27, 2023. Charlie spoke to our boys about his experience during his time at The Academy and how it shaped the trajectory and outlook on his life and continues to do so.

Charlie attended SAA for all 10 years of his elementary to middle school education. He spoke of it being considered his second home, not only figuratively but literally, as he spent his 6th to 8th grade years boarding on campus. He also credited his time at The Academy with giving him the love to learn, establishing a well-balanced moral compass, and teaching him compassion and empathy for others which came from his daily interactions with faculty, staff, and brotherhood.

After attending The Academy and high school, he went on to receive a BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Incarnate Word and an MBA from the University of Texas. Charlie was transparent in admitting that he did not have a set goal in life as he was always interested in so many different things and didn't know what he wanted to pursue. However, despite many "hard lessons," Charlie has found great success, and credits SAA for ultimately making him the person he is today.

Today, Charlie is co-owner and co-founder of a very successful bakery in San Antonio called Bakery Lorraine.

Thank you, Charlie, for sharing your experiences and story with us.
