Brendan Moore – Honorary Alumnus (Alumni Monday Speaker)

On Monday, September 14th, 2026, San Antonio Academy welcomed longtime educator and honorary alumnus Brendan Moore as the featured guest for Alumni Monday. Hosted by current Academy eighth graders John Wilson K. and Anderson D., the conversation highlighted Mr. Moore’s journey from Ireland to Texas, his many years at The Academy, and the impact he has had on generations of Academy boys.

Brendan Moore (Honorary Alum) with Interviewers

During the interview, Mr. Moore reflected on his early years at The Academy, when the school was still partly a boarding school and the campus looked very different than it does today. He also shared the story behind one of The Academy's favorite traditions, the eighth-grade Shakespeare play, which began with a production of Macbeth and has continued each year since.

Having taught multiple generations of Academy families, Mr. Moore spoke about the relationships that have made his years at The Academy so meaningful. He shared that his students have taught him never to judge someone by first impressions, as young men often reveal unexpected strengths when challenged. Looking ahead, Mr. Moore hopes to continue teaching for years to come before eventually spending more time with family, woodworking, and visiting Ireland.

About Alumni Mondays: Each Monday, we welcome an Academy alumnus to speak to SAA boys during chapel or special programming. During these presentations, alumni share meaningful stories and lessons from their days at SAA.
