Tom Beatty, Class of 1977 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Tom Beatty, Class of 1977 (Alumni Monday Speaker)

Tom Beatty '77 visited our young men for Alumni Monday on March 14, and spoke about his career as a safety engineer. The boys were intrigued as he brought out the equipment he uses on a daily basis. Russell, who was our 8th Grade Officer of the Day, was brought on stage to test out the safety gear and when strapped into everything, noted its heavy weight. Tom is in charge of handling safety measures for wind turbine generators that when constructed, are up to 300 feet tall -- the equivalent of around 10 Taylor Halls stacked on top of each other!

Our Virtuous Word of the Week is "diligence," and Tom stated that when doing his work, it's essential to be diligent when working safely to prepare the wind turbine generators. "What I learned from SAA is that honesty is the most important thing, that my word means a lot to me, and I can't be wrong or dishonest at my job or in life."

Thank you for visiting and sharing with the boys, Tom!
