A Celebration of Culture and Cuisine: Fourth Grade Spanish Culinary Fair

A Celebration of Culture and Cuisine: Fourth Grade Spanish Culinary Fair

Posted April 13, 2026

San Antonio Academy’s 4th-grade students transformed the Moody Refectory into a vibrant celebration of culture, cuisine, and language during the annual Spanish-Speaking Countries Culinary Fair.

Culinary Fair

Held on Friday, April 10, this event was led by Elementary Spanish teacher Señora Leslie Siller and is the culminating project in the 4th-grade Spanish class. With thoughtful guidance and high expectations, student pairs undertook an in-depth study of one of 21 Spanish-speaking nations. Their work extended well beyond the classroom, as boys prepared an authentic dish, designed a polished visual presentation in Spanish, and confidently shared cultural insights with guests.

Families, faculty, staff, and students enjoyed an impressive array of offerings, including savory empanadas, rich flan, and creamy arroz con leche, each accompanied by student explanations that reflected both preparation and pride. The result was more than a tasting; it was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge of their selected country, the Spanish language, and their public speaking skills.

Culinary Fair

The Culinary Fair is becoming another highly anticipated tradition within the Academy community, encouraging curiosity, confidence, and an appreciation for the wider world.

A huge thank you goes out to the many Academy parents who supported their sons with preparation and presentation.

Each spring, San Antonio Academy celebrates one of its most vibrant traditions: the annual school-wide art show, a joyful showcase of creativity, confidence, and student expression. This year’s exhibition once again transformed the McCombs Gymnasium into a gallery, where artwork from boys across multiple grade levels filled the room with color and imagination. Families, faculty, and friends gathered to admire a wide range of pieces, each reflecting the unique talents and growing artistic skills of our young artists.

A Day at the Museum

San Antonio Academy welcomed families for “A Day at the Museum: Portraits of Leadership,” where 3rd graders presented a living museum that connected local history with personal growth. Through thoughtful presentations, the boys reflected on how influential figures have shaped their understanding of The Academy's four core pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Integrity, and Brotherhood.

Each gallery highlighted voices that have defined San Antonio and The Academy, while giving our boys the opportunity to speak with confidence and purpose. Events like this reflect SAA’s commitment to developing strong public speakers and young men prepared to lead.
