Amid the color and celebration of Fiesta, San Antonio Academy cadets once again took their place in a moment of quiet significance during the Battle of Flowers Parade. Dressed in their crisp drill blue uniforms, the boys carried forward a tradition that has long been a meaningful part of both the school’s history and the city’s most beloved celebration.

For more than 50 years, San Antonio Academy has held the distinct honor of being the only school in the city selected to serve in this role. As the parade passed, 8th-grade cadets respectfully received floral wreaths from passing floats. With care and intention, they placed these tributes on the grounds in front of The Alamo, honoring those who fought in the Battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. This responsibility is carried out with reverence and care, offering students a profound connection to Texas history and a clear understanding of service and respect.

At the same time, younger cadets stood in quiet formation, keeping watch over this sacred site. Their stillness created a moment of reflection amid the day's energy, reminding all in attendance of the history at the heart of the celebration.

Adding to the day’s celebration, the Wildcats Drum Corps brought energy and rhythm to the parade as they proudly marched alongside the Texas Cavaliers. Their performance was a highlight along the route, with the steady cadence of the drums echoing through the streets and lifting the spirits of the crowd. Marching in step with such a distinguished group, the drum corps represented San Antonio Academy with pride, showcasing both their talent and camaraderie.

For the boys, the experience is both memorable and meaningful. It is a chance to take part in a long-standing tradition, to represent their school publicly, and to connect with the story of Texas in a tangible way. For many families watching along the parade route, it is a moment of quiet pride as they see their sons take on a role marked by respect and responsibility.

Year after year, these young men step forward with composure and care, honoring the past while creating memories that will stay with them long after the parade has passed.
