2026 2nd Grade Poetry Extravaganza

Ellison Hall was filled with pride, joy, and heartfelt expression as San Antonio Academy’s 2nd-grade boys took the stage for this year’s Poetry Extravaganza, a tradition that celebrates both creativity and confidence.

The program began with each student standing tall as a pre-recorded acrostic poem reflecting his own personality and interests was played overhead. From there, the boys moved on to reciting original poems dedicated to someone who is meaningful in their lives. With parents, siblings, teachers, friends, and Academy buddies standing beside them, each student delivered a personal tribute filled with gratitude, admiration, and love. 

The result was a moving and memorable performance. Moments of laughter echoed throughout Ellison Hall, followed by well-earned applause, as each young poet shared his voice. Every poem offered a window into the relationships that inspire and shape each boy.

More than a performance, the Poetry Extravaganza represents an important milestone in the development of public speaking skills at San Antonio Academy. Through experiences like this, students learn to communicate with confidence, express themselves thoughtfully, and stand before an audience with poise—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

A special thank you goes to our 2nd-grade teachers, Mrs. Crump and Mrs. Simmons, for guiding the boys through this meaningful process and creating an experience they will always remember.
