San Antonio Academy welcomed grandparents of 1st and 2nd grade students for the second round of Primary School Grandparents’ Chapel & Coffee of the school year on Friday, September 26. More than 50 grandparents joined their Academy boys in the front rows of Ellison Hall, experiencing the meaningful tradition that starts each school day at The Academy.

1st and 2nd Grandparents Chapel

The morning featured a "Fraternitas Friday" speech by 8th grader Merritt N. Following chapel, guests enjoyed a presentation from Señora Alexandra Johnson, SAA's Primary School Spanish Teacher, who shared insights into fostering early confidence and enthusiasm for the Spanish language among our youngest students.

The event offered the opportunity to celebrate the role grandparents play within the Academy community, and we were delighted to honor them in this meaningful way.

We look forward to our Elementary School grandparents joining us for chapel on Friday, January 16, 2026. Don't forget to RSVP!

SAA Boys Lend Helping Hands for Catholic Charities’ Project Turkey Box

In the spirit of service and gratitude, San Antonio Academy joined forces with Catholic Charities of San Antonio to support Project Turkey Box, a community initiative providing Thanksgiving meals to families in need. Over the course of three days, boys from every grade level worked to transform banana boxes into cheerful vessels for holiday dinners. Each box was wrapped, decorated, and included a handwritten Thanksgiving note. The small gesture will soon bring joy and nourishment to homes across San Antonio this holiday season. With Catholic Charities’ goal of preparing 500 boxes, Academy students made a significant contribution toward meeting that milestone. The project, held just a short walk from campus, offered boys a firsthand look at how small acts of service can make a big impact.

In a thrilling finish, SAA’s 8th-grade basketball team edged out the alumni by one point in this year’s Alumni vs. 8th Grade Basketball Game, the first 8th-grade victory since the tradition was revived in 1995. The night was filled with school spirit, brotherhood, and cheers from families and alumni across generations.
