Posted March 22, 2024
The Wildcat baseball team had an outstanding season home opener on the evening of Wednesday, March 20, with an incredible 11-0 win against Cornerstone.
Whit Wright was a "magician on the bump," as Coach Mike McClintock put it, facing 14 hitters and giving up just one hit. He threw a total of 55 pitches, 34 of which were strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, going 2 for 3 with an incredible bunt to get the game rolling in a 6-run third inning and a lead-off walk in a 5-run 4th inning. Max Gutierrez and Robert Conn each had a triple.
The Wildcats had 10 RBIs on five hits and turned three double plays, one of which was with the bases loaded for Cornerstone.
They return to action on Monday, March 25, traveling to Boerne Geneva with the first pitch scheduled for 4 PM.
Thank you to all the Wildcat fans who joined us in cheering on our boys!
