2024 Kindergarten Play: "Zootopia"
Published March 28, 2024
Ellison Hall was transformed into the SAA Zoo once again for the annual kindergarten play. It was a wild event as families, buddies, faculty, staff, and fellow brothers gathered to cheer on and support our kindergarten boys during their presentation of "Zootopia."
Their performance featured many species of "animals," from scaly reptiles to mighty mammals of the cat family. The boys did a fantastic job, all speaking loud and clear with lots of character and personality to match.
Thank you to our kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Gutierrez, Mrs. Ciaburri, and Mrs. Nieves, for being amazing "Zookeepers" and once again organizing an outstanding performance by some of our youngest SAA boys, as well as to all the parents for your continued help and support.
Here's some of what our faculty and staff had to say about the show:
"It was worth waiting 47 years to see! Cute kids and outstanding teachers." - Barry Bradley, 6th Grade World Cultures/8th Grade American History Teacher
"Loved their stage presence, their costumes and their adorable personalities." - Elizabeth Ford, Assistant Director of Development
"It was wonderful! Seeing how much their speech and their mannerisms have changed and matured since last year made me a little verklempt. So well spoken - all of them! My boys are already excited for next year and are already arguing over who gets to be what animal lol. Bravo to all!!" - Trisha Sinclair, Pre-K Teacher
"Kudos to y'all. What an incredible performance and it's 'cuz we have the best "ZOO KEEPERS!" - Paul M. Quick, Semmes Foundation Head of School

San Antonio Academy’s Primary and Elementary School artists took the spotlight as families, faculty, and friends gathered in McCombs Gymnasium for the school’s annual art show. The show served as both a culminating moment for months of classroom creativity and a fundraiser for the school, with a portion of each $30 artwork purchase benefiting The Academy.
The show continues to run virtually through April 20 on Artome’s Online Art Show platform, with any additional artwork purchases arriving at SAA within the next few weeks. To view the Online Art Show, visit www.sa-academy.org/artshow.
Special thanks go to art teachers Elizabeth Eversberg and Morgan Bates, whose careful curation turned the gym into a beautiful celebration of our young talent!
One of San Antonio Academy’s beloved public speaking traditions, “A Day at the Museum,” returned as our 3rd grade students transformed into historical figures from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. This performance marked the culmination of weeks of preparation, during which each student engaged in research, polished their public speaking skills, and memorized key facts about their historical figure. Whether channeling the bravery of Davy Crockett, the athleticism of Jim Thorpe, or the friendly spirit of Mr. Rogers, the boys impressed the audience with their confidence and delivery.
