San Antonio Academy was founded in 1886 by Dr. W.B. Seeley, who sought to develop young men with academic discipline, strong character, and good physical condition. These traits became the hallmarks of San Antonio Academy.
Today, Dr. Seeley's legacy serves as our inspiration. We continue to build young men of character, teaching them how important it is to "Be honest. Be kind. Be the best you can be." We are committed to Four Foundational Pillars throughout our Primary, Elementary, and Middle School programming: Scholarship, Leadership, Integrity, and Brotherhood. Everything that our students experience is rooted in what's best for boys: how they learn, how their brains develop, and how they engage with the world around them.

San Antonio Academy welcomed back alumnus Will Watson ’07 as the Alumni Monday speaker on December 1, 2025. Returning to campus for the first time in several years, Will shared reflections on his time at The Academy and the life lessons that have guided him through his education, career, and personal growth.

San Antonio Academy’s Outdoor Leadership Program is a key component of The Academy Experience, shaping boys into confident, capable leaders through meaningful study of the natural world. Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through 8th grade, students build knowledge, responsibility, and respect through conservation, safety education, outdoor skills, and real-world application.

San Antonio Academy students welcomed some of their most favorite people into their school lives during the annual Grandparents and Grandfriends Day celebration. The morning featured joyful performances, student reflections on the school's Four Pillars, and a special look at the Outdoor Leadership Program before families gathered for a parade and time together in classrooms.

On November 17, 2025, San Antonio Academy brought a special surprise twist to Alumni Monday chapel as brothers David ’07 and Thomas Rochelle ’08 returned to campus for an interview-style presentation hosted by former SAA coach Mike Heineman.

SAA celebrated Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11, with our annual convocation. The special event is held to recognize the courage and dedication of parents, faculty and staff, grandparents, and alumni who have served in the U.S. armed forces.
Our History
Since 1886, San Antonio Academy has been a beacon of our community, graduating leaders who have gone on to become astronauts, Congressmen, attorneys, doctors, artists, engineers, and business professionals. Take a journey through our history, from the earliest days of "The Seeley School," to our present campus on East French Place.
