This competitive tradition brings alumni together with the 8th grade Wildcat basketball team for a fun annual rivalry.
Author, Kathryn Otoshi, engaged all ages during her visit on October 18. She opened by telling the boys that she sees books as doorways making it possible to go anywhere. Her books are full of symbols. She considers a solid line as the person who picks you up.
¡Qué día tan fantástico! On October 29, Kinder, 1st & 3rd graders took part in the very first SAA Spanish festival. The event kicked off with festive music from a live Mariachi Band playing a variety of traditional songs, including ‘Cielito Lindo.’
Jennifer Hayes’ science class took a creative turn last month. Eighth graders made masks that reflected who they are, both personally and 'chemically.' The interdisciplinary project entailed writing poems about themselves to include an element of their choice that best portrayed them. The activity challenged the boys to examine their hopes, dreams, feelings, and fears.
San Antonio Academy is now a Gurian Model School. This means that SAA has been trained and now adheres to the educational concepts Michael Gurian has established for same sex education.
Donated items provide cost-saving efficiency
Over the summer, the SAA Café received brand new kitchen equipment that has provided a much-needed boost to the school’s decades-old infrastructure.
San Antonio Academy was among 400 teams to compete in the Alamo Region this year. Team Infinity's winning project involved the creation of a small grease trap for residential use.
SAA's own music specialist, Dr. Owen Duggan, is teaching 6th grade elective, "History of Rock," that covers the beginnings of rock and roll in the early 50s as it emerges from American blues, gospel, and country and becomes the world's most popular music form to this day.
National Spanish Results In
Did you know that there are 11.6 million people in the U.S. who are currently bilingual? And according to the U.S. Census Office, our nation will have an estimated 138 million Spanish speakers by 2050 -- which would make it the biggest Spanish-speaking nation on Earth! These statistics underscore why it is so important that our Academy boys are not only learning the language, but excelling at it.

The San Antonio Athletics Department is excited to announce that we have committed to a partnership with the sports apparel store Vivroux, and the adidas brand. Located in Alamo Heights, Vivroux has outfitted the SAA community for many years, and so is a natural fit for our families.
