Online Learning Expectations

Dear SAA Families,

Below is a brief outline of what you can expect for our online learning and curriculum during this time when students are not able to come on campus.

  • The Academy’s priorities:
    • SAA is staying true to its mission by doing these two things: keeping the health and safety of your son our top priority; and continuing to provide meaningful learning opportunities for our students.
  • How will teachers communicate?
    • To reduce the number of communications you receive, teachers are asked not to send emails unless necessary.
    • All lessons, resources, and student communication from teachers will be located in one place-- the Renweb/FACTS Learning Management System (LMS).
    • Teachers are working this week creating content and uploading it to the FACTS LMS.
    • On Friday, the FACTS LMS website will be activated for students and families to begin accessing.
    • On Friday, you will receive a link and directions on how to use FACTS LMS.
    • FACTS LMS is internet based, which means if you have a device that can access the internet (computer, tablet, and smartphone), you can access the information. If your son does not have access to a device, please contact us through saaclosure@sa-academy.org, and we will work with you to find a solution.
  • Online lessons:
    • Pre-K through 2nd Grade teachers will post lessons for reading and mathematics that each student is expected to complete to the best of their ability.
    • Additional lessons in other content areas will be posted as optional enrichment opportunities.
    • 3rd through 8th Grade teachers will post lessons in the core classes.
    • Additional enrichment activities will be posted.
    • Any due dates posted online are designed to assist your son in organizing and planning his lessons. He may complete assignments as his schedule allows.
    • Video links will be filtered through the educational site called SafeYouTube to remove advertisements and other links not related to the video.
  • How will my son get help?
    • Teachers, administration, and staff are available Monday - Friday between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
    • The teachers have been assigned families they will contact each week to check-in.
    • Teachers will monitor student progress on their class assignments and reach out as needed.
    • If you don’t know to whom you should contact, a special email has been created saaclosure@sa-academy.org. You can send ANY QUESTION OR REQUEST to this address. The small team of people monitoring the email account will help direct your question to the right person in a timely manner.
SAA realizes this is a new paradigm, and there will be some discomfort in the beginning. We are committed to helping you, your family, and especially your son, through these uncharted waters that the whole world is experiencing.

Please, let us know how we can help.

Director of Curriculum and Student Services
