"Football is back at Academy"

May 20 was a historic day for San Antonio Academy, the Monte Vista-based all-boys independent elementary school. After 25 years of being sidelined, the academy's football program kicked-off its first scrimmage.
To help shape the football program and ensure that the boys are game-ready, John Peterson was brought in for one month during the Wildcats' spring training.

"San Antonio Academy Recognized for Yearbook Excellence"
The San Antonio Academy yearbook staff has been recognized by Taylor Publishing with an Award of Excellence honoring its accomplishments in yearbook design and coverage. The SAA yearbook is featured in the 2009 Yearbook Yearbook. Judges selected this yearbook among the best. The yearbook advisor is Natalie Bock and Priscilla Power.
"Having San Antonio Academy featured in Yearbook Yearbook is an award with rewards," Taylor Publishing education specialist Judi Coolidge said. "Your outstanding work offers inspiration to thousands of other students who aspire to your level of excellence."
This year’s performance of Julius Caesar at San Antonio Academy was the latest in a decades-long tradition of Shakespearean productions, and in their most recent incarnation under the directorship of Brendan Moore since 1991. Notable for the focused cohesion among the young actors, as well as some virtuoso individual performances, the shows last week provided some of the best ever staged at the school.

SAN ANTONIO, TX ─ The Alumni Council of San Antonio Academy of Texas presents Sam Barshop with the 2009 Colonel W.T. Bondurant, Sr. Distinguished Humanitarian Award on Tuesday, January 27 with a reception at 6:00 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. at the San Antonio Country Club (4100 North New Braunfels Ave).
Sam Barshop is the founder and former CEO of La Quinta Inns Inc. and is currently the Chairman of Barshop & Oles, a company that has played a prominent role in Central Texas high-profile real estate development in Central Texas during the last two decades.

San Antonio Academy of Texas congratulates the Enrichment Department Assistant, Veronica Michelle Guerrero, as recipient of the San Antonio Youth Literacy’s 2008 -2009 Harriet Marmon Helmle Scholarship. A ceremony was held on November 5 to recognize Veronica and present her award.
