Bondurant Library
The Bondurant Library serves as the hub of intellectual activity, fostering the pursuit of knowledge and the exchange of ideas by connecting the library to each student, teacher, classroom and discipline. While encouraging the love of reading, students are taught to become effective and discriminating users of information and to develop strategies for lifelong learning.

Meet the Library Staff:

Elizabeth Snow

Elizabeth has worked in the Bondurant Library since 2010. Along with her teaching experience, she has a Master's degree in Education with a specialization in Reading and a Master's degree in Library Science.

Jane Kernaghan
Coordinator of Book Acquisitions

Jane has worked at San Antonio Academy since 1991, first as a reading teacher for grades four, five, and six and now as Coordinator of Book Acquisitions in the library. With over 40 years of classroom experience she has taught in both public and private schools in grades Pre-K through 8 in Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas as well as in an American school near Tokyo, Japan. While teaching in the AHISD she was selected as a Graduate Scholar for the Masters program in Education at Trinity University.
Julie Smith
Coordinator of Library Services
Julie has been part of The Academy family since 2003, teaching in both kindergarten and second grade. She has a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to joining SAA, she spent seven years in the NEISD as a kindergarten and first grade teacher where she was voted “El Dorado Elementary Teacher of the Year” in 2000. Julie has transitioned from the classroom to the library in her most current position as Coordinator of Library Services.

7:15 am - 4:15 pm | Mon-Thur

7:15 am - 4:00 pm | Friday
Holidays and early dismissal may affect hours of operation.
NEW: Makerspace
Makerspace is a creative place for students to explore, learn, and share resources and knowledge. Materials, tools, and various technologies are provided to encourage hands-on activities and self-directed learning.
A possible range of activities might include:

» Keva Contraptions
» Legos
» Magnets
» Computer coding
» The NEW 3D Printer! And MORE!
Makerspace will be in the Library everyday from 7:15-7:45 and Monday, Thursday and Friday 3:30-4:15. 
SAA Museum

Located in the mezzanine level of The Academy’s Bondurant Library, the Museum offers diverse historical exhibits that provide a vivid glimpse into the past. Learn more
