Did you know that there are 11.6 million people in the US who are currently bilingual? And according to US Census Office, our nation will have an estimated 138 million Spanish speakers by 2050 — which would make it the biggest Spanish-speaking nation on Earth! These statics underscore why it is so important that our Academy boys are not only learning the language, but are excelling at it.

History of Rock Strums a Chord with Students

6th Grade Elective Covers Genre's Evolution
SAA’s own music specialist, Dr. Owen Duggan, is teaching a 6th grade elective, “History of Rock,” that covers the beginnings of rock and roll in the early 50s as it emerges from American blues, gospel, and country and becomes the world's most popular musical form to this day.

Spanish-Speaking Skills Garner Gold/Silver Medals

Results from the AATSP Poetry, Speaking, and Visual Arts City-wide Contest
Academy boys in both primary and upper school impressed the judges with their Spanish-speaking abilities during a citywide competition held on February 24th, hosted by the local chapter of The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).

Spreadsheets Illuminate the Future

I started using spreadsheets professionally in the 90's, working as a Biologist for the National Marine Fisheries and then Dupont Agricultural Products Division. Both jobs required that I collect field data to produce reports that included charts using spreadsheet software. Fast forward seventeen years later, and I’m still incorporating spreadsheet software, but now it’s to teach boys in 2nd through 6th grades.
