Dear Family and Friends of San Antonio Academy,
After thirty-one wonderful years at San Antonio Academy, I have decided that the next school year, 2016-2017, will be my last. Next year, after almost fifty years of teaching, I shall retire.
I am proud of what our Academy family has accomplished. Together, we have created a school where we teach boys how important it is to: “Be honest. Be kind. Be the best you can be!” SAA begins every day focusing on God, country, character, leadership, pride in achievement and brotherhood. We are united by common values, traditions and goals.
It is with gratitude that I reflect on my tenure at San Antonio Academy. So many trustees, teachers, alumni, staff members, grandparents and friends have helped SAA and me. Words cannot express my gratitude. For thirty-one years, San Antonio Academy has defined my professional life. I love coming to school each morning, as our guys energize and inspire me. At heart, I shall always be an Academy boy…probably a pre-kinder student.
Col. Bondurant used to say, “The joy is watching these little guys come in pre-kinder and then, years later, watching them walk across the stage and just knowing that you were a part of it. Great teaching is love.” We all love watching these little guys become young men.
San Antonio Academy teaches little boys to become young men of character so that they can be leaders in the world and make a positive difference. Generations of Academy families have believed in and supported SAA’s mission—which belongs to all of us. It is the commitment of all of us who believe in The Academy that will carry our school forward. We are all invested in our beloved school.
Today San Antonio Academy is strong. Our faculty and programs are exceptional, Board leadership is outstanding, and our school is in good shape financially. I am confident that The Academy’s best years lie ahead.
